Sometimes it is easier to use a plugin on Figma, and a good example is the Arc plugin. This plugin answers a missing functionality on Figma, that of being able to write a word, a text, a sentence in a circular way.

Key points to remember

Here are two methods, more or less simple... to create a circular text in thecollaborative design tool Figma.

1. Rotate each letter one by one

Of course it's a joke, we're not going to do that... 🤯 Unless you have a lot of time on your hands. Lots of it... and patience!

If you have any doubts about this method, here is how to proceed:

  • Create a circle with the "Ellipse" tool. Keyboard shortcut: O
  • Write each letter of the word independently
  • Place each letter around the circle
  • Rotate them using the "Rotation" feature in the "Frame" tab
  • Repeat this action for each of the letters

2. Use a plugin!

Don't waste time, the Figma plugins are there to fill all the features that are not yet present in the tool. Among these plugins you will find one dedicated to the creation of circular texts. It is the arc plugin.

  1. Add the arc plugin to figma: from this link, click on "Install" to add the plugin to your Figma account.
  2. Open in your Figma project and select your text
  3. Open the arc plugin: right click on the Canva > Plugin > arc
  4. Make your text more or less circular with the gauge on the right
  5. Click on "Apply" to create your circular text
Note that you should not rely on the preview offered by the plugin if your text is long.
