A quick and easy tutorial to export your Wordpress blog in CSV (plugin) and import it on the CMS of your Webflow site.

Key points to remember

You are thinking about migrating your blog content from a Wordpress site to a Webflow site?

No need to panic. The operation is simple and fast. Discover in this tutorial, how, in a few steps, to transfer the blog content (post) of your Wordpress site, to a webflow site.

⚠️ XML file vs. CSV file

By default, the export of your posts from the Wordpress dashboard, is done in an XML file format. Whereas... we need a CSV file to use the import function in the Webflow CMS.

(Just to discourage you a little more to turn the page... 😅)

Fortunately, there are easy-to-use plugins to ensure that your content is exported in CSV format.

1. exporting your wordpress site data

Why make simple when you can make complicated? Wordpress, once again, requires us to use a plugin to export its data in CSV format. But well, we take on us, it is soon finished!

1. Download the Wp All Export plugin

There are different Wordpress plugins to perform the operation. Here is one of them:

2. Activate the plugin on Wordpress

3. Export site data

  • Select the content you want to export
  • Download content in CSV format

2. Import the content into your Webflow site

You are just a few clicks away from having your content on your new Webflow site... !

2.1 Open your Webflow CMS collection

Zoom on the CMS icon of the Webflow designer
Open the Webflow CMS (collection)
Open a Webflow collection
Open a Webflow collection

2.2 Importing your CSV file

CSV import function on the Webflow CMS

That's it! The content is now on your new website built with Webflow!

You just have to be careful about two things:

  • Do not exceed the 10,000 item limit in the Webflow CMS
  • Match the fields in your CSV file with the fields in your content management system (CMS) on Webflow.
