Tools are constantly evolving, and every month new features are announced! In this no-code news post, discover the new features of Webflow for January 2022!

Key points to remember

After a great year in 2021, 2022 starts strong for Webflow with the release of three new featuresthis month !

  1. Improving the performance of the CMS 🚀
  2. Create "CSS Outlines" directly in the designer tool 🌎
  3. "But where are you on Webflow?" 🧐

In this article, we gather all the important news of the month, on one page. (If you want more news, no-code, web and Webflow → The Blog of Digidop)

1. A 15x faster CMS

Yes, really, 15x faster. If you use Webflow, you probably have a CMS with collections. With for example blog posts for your content strategy, products for your online sales or many other reasons!

Webflow designer interface with CMS collection lists

A "big" CMS means a lot of data and therefore a slowdown of the software. For large Webflow sites, load times could be long for :

  • Open the designer
  • Publish the site
  • Change page
  • Loading collections/items

But that was before. Webflow's announcements on this subject are quantified and speak for themselves. I quote:

- Up to 15x faster loading of projects in Designer
- 5x less RAM usage to access or edit collection data
- 6x less RAM usage, reducing the number of Designer crashes
- 86x less bandwidth to load larger projects (wow!)"

And it does not intend to stop there. Webflow has understood the challenge of having the most powerful and fastest site possible to optimize the SEO visibility of its no-code sites, but also the challenge of having a functional and fast to work platform for no-code developers like us.

How to activate this new update? There is no need to update, it is automatic.

Welcome to the world of no-code

2. Improve the accessibility of your website with: CSS outlines

Website accessibility is a topic in its own right. More than 1 billion people suffer from disabilities on the web. Read more about it in our article Making Your Website Inclusive for Web Accessibility !

CSS outline functionality in the Webflow designer

This new feature has a web accessibility benefit by allowing you to add a style around each element when the "focus keyboard" feature is enabled for example. (So that users navigating using the keyboard, rather than a mouse, can find their way around your page)

The big advantage over a tuck-in?

  • A border is added to the element (and thus shifts or modifies your dig)
  • A CSS outline is a line that is drawn around the

No impact on your design, no shift, all the elements will remain well aligned. Even with the appearance of the "borders", because they will be outside the element.

3. Webflow becomes a more collaborative tool

Today, a Webflow site is at the heart of the strategy of many companies (from start-ups to large groups). We are often several people who need to work on the tool at the same time. Some features, such as the possibility to connect several people in the designer at the same time are still awaited. But Webflow is going in the right direction with a new collaboration feature on the tool!

This new feature allows you to see who is where and who is doing what. This is very useful to quickly understand if subjects are already being dealt with and to avoid, for example, duplication.

Conclusion on the Webflow news of the month

This month, Webflow has revealed 3 newfeatures that have made the tool no-code:

  1. More efficient
  2. More accessible
  3. More collaborative
