Webflow is the fastest growing CMS in recent years. In 2021, we have seen a sudden rise in the popularity of no-code software and have just published this blog post explaining our expectations for 2022!

Key points to remember

You've probably heard of Webflow, the "no-code" website builder, over the past few years. Influenced by the no-code movement (and its massively engaged community), Webflow is by far the fastest growing website creation software!

The reasons for this success? An attractive promise, an affordable CMS that allows you to create fully customisable and SEO optimised websites.

Reminder of Webflow news in 2021

  • Over 480,000 websites developed on Webflow!
  • from 40 to 500 experts in 1 year
  • 140 million dollar fundraising in January 2021
  • 2 days of No-code conference

1. Why 2022 will be the year of Webflow?

1.1 New features

The no-code conf was the occasion to highlight some big announcements for Webflow! And 2022 will be full of new features for Webflow developers.

  1. Release of the Webflow native member area
  2. "Logic" native automation in Webflow (the end of Zapier x Webflow needs?)

(1) We've been waiting for it, and here it is! Until now, you could use Memberstack to create member spaces on your websites using Node.JS. From 2022, Webflow CMS will offer this functionality natively.

(2) At the no-code conference, Webflow revealed a new feature that will allow companies to automate workflows directly from their CMS, without the need for additional automation tools.

1.2 Growing demand for code-free websites

In 2022, your company does not exist if it is not visible on the Internet. In 2022 nobody wants to wait a year to be visible on the internet (development, coding, etc.). Fortunately in 2022, no-coding and CMS like Webflow allow you to launch your website or landing page in a few days ( hours! )

The demand is therefore strong, and many companies are abandoning their historical agencies, which lock them into complex solutions, to gain agility with a "no-coding" website. And that is LARGE enough!

Most of the needs of a company for its website are :

  • Editing a photo
  • Editing a text
  • Add a blog post
  • Creating a dynamic page

And a content management interface like the Webflow Content Editor is all you need to become independent!

1.3 IU focus

Having a website is good, but having a website with a design and an interface that helps you sell your product is even better! Webflow's designer mode opens the door to all the possibilities of designing your site.

There are no limits when it comes to designing your website with this code-free tool. No more website designs that look like any other template. In our opinion, the CMS has made the right choice by making web design more accessible with its powerful features.

2. Our expectations of the Webflow tool in 2022

1. Multiple designers on the same interface

This is one of the biggest limitations of Webflow at the moment, if you are a group of web designers in an agency or company, you cannot work on the designer at the same time. Webflow allows multiple people to work on a project in editor mode but not in developer mode. Fortunately, they have a good note for this need on the CMS and have promised rapid progress... 2022 perhaps?

2. Improved editor mode: case-free webflow

In the editor mode, we expect several features to improve the daily use of the tool.

  1. The first one is also valid for the designer mode, it is an automatic registration of new items created in the CMS.
  2. The ability to open another page of your website while logged into the editor. Today, if you want to see certain elements of your live site while making modifications in the editor, you are obliged to open it in private browsing. Otherwise you will be disconnected and will lose for example the new item you were creating. Yes, we are speaking from experience... 😅
  3. Give access to more features of the designer mode on the management part of the site. For example the possibility to add a new editor or to modify the contact email address.
  4. Have access to more designer mode features on the design part of the site. This can be the possibility to update all the elements of a page such as modifying the links of the "link blocks" and not only the buttons.
  5. Have quick access to the formats of the image locations, logos and illustrations.

3. What about Wordpress?

Wordpress is a wonderful tool for content creation. It is easy to set up and use, but it can sometimes be a real pain in the ass in terms of performance. The cascading effects of too many plugins can cause slowdowns, crashes and security holes that can shut down your site completely. Why is this? This is one of the limitations of open source. Anyone can modify a plugin. If a plugin has its own programming system different from the others, they don't work well together

Webflow realizes this! Webflow is the best CMS for design and security! They are ready to take the next step with ease of use. After all, WordPress is easier to use...yes...unless you use the Webflow editor mode

Reminder of the functionalities of the simplified editing module to eliminate risks: only modify what is important for your company! Images, texts and dynamic content! No risk of breakage, because you don't touch the HTML and CSS structure of your website.

4. E-commerce: is shopify still the leader?

Shopify is still... and deservedly so! Shopify is a wonderful solution for your e-commerce needs. The platform easily outperforms any comparable solutions, such as Prestashop or Magento.

Webflow E-commerce vs Shopify, advantages and disadvantages?

Fortunately, during the Q3 update Vlad, CEO & Co-founder of Webflow hinted that Webflow was going to seriously work on catching up. So we are waiting for news on the subject and see more and more online stores developed on Webflow!
