Watch the summary of John Mueller's youtube video, which announces the new (June 2022) SEO features of the Google search engine!

Key points to remember

As every month, on the Youtube channel Google Search Central, John Mueller, presents the new features of the Google search engine!

In this article, you will find a summary of the SEO news of June.

Discover the 3 main announcements

1. Release of a mini-series: SEO for E-commerce

With 3 episodes already online, this mini-series brings you action levers to optimise the SEO of your e-commerce site;

  • Image optimisation
  • Javascript optimization
  • Mobile friendly Website tips
  • And many others.

Even though the "tips" are advertised as "dedicated to e-commerce", you can obviously use these levers for any website. Including your own!

2. Google Search Console integration available with Data studio

It is now possible to analyse your search engine performance data (Google Search Console) with bubble charts, thanks to Google Data Studio.

3. Core Update

Last May, Google launched an update to its search engine ranking algorithm, called the "May Core Update".

But it is important to know that, in general, Google is focusing on quality. There are therefore several points to keep in mind. For example;

  • Does the title clearly summarise the content of the page?
  • Is this content written by an expert or an enthusiast who has mastered the subject?
  • Are there any spelling or stylistic errors in the content?
  • Is the content displayed correctly on mobile devices?
  • Is the content produced by a large number of creators, largely outsourced, or distributed across a vast network of sites, so that each page or site is not subject to very thorough control?

And many more. To find out more, readthe whole checklist in the full article here.

And some news

  1. Deprecations of some sitemap tags (extensions), in particular image and video | Read the article
  2. Google Search Console URL settings tool discontinued | Read the article

In conclusion, these different news items can have a direct impact, positive or negative, on the positions of your website on the Google search engine.

That's it for the month of June! See you in July?
